Say Cheese! Why dental cleaning is vital to your Westies health and happiness.

Dental Problems: Due to their compact jaw structure, Westies are prone to dental issues like tartar buildup, gum disease, and tooth decay. Prevention is crucial. Daily tooth brushing with canine-specific toothpaste is highly recommended. We get it, it is a struggle to brush their teeth! That is why a routine professional dental cleanings performed by a veterinarian can remove stubborn tartar and address underlying dental concerns. Dental chews and toys designed to promote oral health can also aid in reducing plaque and tartar accumulation between cleanings.

Preventing Dental Disease: Dental disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs, including Westies. However, our active involvement can significantly reduce this risk. Poor dental hygiene can lead to a host of problems, including bad breath, tooth loss, and even systemic diseases such as heart and kidney disease. Scheduling an annual dental cleaning with your veterinarian is recommended and ensures your Westie stays healthy and happy.

Fresh Breath and Clean Teeth: Like us humans, dogs can suffer from bad breath if their teeth and gums are not properly cared for. During a regular dental cleaning the removal of plaque and tartar buildup, which can cause foul odors in your Westie's mouth is removed.

Investing in Long-Term Health: Dental cleaning for your Westie is an investment in their long-term health and happiness. By taking proactive steps to care for their teeth and gums, we can help prevent costly dental procedures down the line and ensure our furry friends live a longer, healthier life. Plus, a healthy smile means more kisses, cuddles, and wagging tails—and what could be better than that?
